A GROUP of people had to be rescued from Thorpe Bay beach when their car became stranded in gravel.
Southend Coastguard had to tow the vehicle off the beach with a 4x4 yesterday after the group pulled on to the shingle but couldn’t get off again just before 4.40pm.
The coastguard team took 30 minutes to bring the people and their car safely back to shore.
