A CAR flipped on to its roof following a smash in Basildon.
Two people have been taken to Basildon Hospital following a collision at the junction of Honywood Road and Paycocke Road in Basildon at about 3pm today.
Emergency services were called after a silver Vauxhall Corsa and a grey Mercedes car collided.
The casualties managed to get out of their vehicles and made their way to a near-by shop where staff stayed with them until ambulance crews arrived.
Their injuries are not thought to be serious but they have been taken to hospital for checks.
Two fire crews from Basildon attended and made the vehicles safe.
Police cordoned off the road for a short time while the cars were recovered.
Conor Brady, 22, was working in an office in near-by Honywood Road, he said: “We were working in an office block behind where it happened when we heard the crash.
“We ran downstairs and saw the two cars - one was on it’s roof.
“The drivers were out of their cars by the time we got there.
“The emergency services were really good. They were there within about five minutes.”
