A MAN tried to force a young woman into a car in Southchurch in broad daylight, but she was able to flee after two people intervened.
The man, who was standing by a black car, grabbed her wrist and attempted to push her into the vehicle in Stornoway Road, at about 6.20pm last Thurday.
However, the terrified 20-year-old was able to get away after passers-by shouted at the man, giving the startled woman a chance to escape.
She has come forward to police about her ordeal, but the force is looking to speak to the man and woman who helped her get away, after launching an investigation into the incident.
Investigating officer Pc Keith Draycott said: "This incident left the victim understandably shaken up and I’m keen to speak to the pair who shouted out as they may have vital information to help us trace the man responsible.”
Witnesses, or anyone with information, is asked to call the police on 101.
