PEOPLE opposing two new superclinics on Canvey have had their views put to Parliament.
A petition outlining concerns about the quality of healthcare and the future of the community facilities at the Paddocks - where one of the clinics will be located - has been presented at Westminster by Castle Point MP Bob Spink.
Dr Spink said: "The people of Canvey are deeply concerned about the two linked issues that this petition addresses.
"First, they want to ensure the reorganisation of healthcare, by combining all eight of the GP surgeries on Canvey into just two centres, will not restrict access to primary healthcare, and that any change that takes place will improve healthcare rather than simply save money at Canvey people's expense.
"Secondly, they want to retain the Paddocks for community use, rather than have it swallowed up in a grandiose central health care scheme."
