A LAMBORGHINI driver may prove to be the key witness to a crash.

A 22-year-old man was driving his red Ford Fiesta along the Southend-bound A127 when the smash happened.

He had just reached the A132 Wickford junction when his car was in collision with a green Peugeot 306, which didn't stop and instead sped away. The Fiesta driver, from Barking, was uninjured.

Officers said the owner of a black Lamborghini, seen travelling in the area just before the crash, may hold vital information and they appealed for them to come forward.

Investigating officer PC Vicky Leese said: "This driver could be a potential witness. They were travelling towards Southend on Saturday night so maybe someone's friend or relative owns this car.

"In addition we would like to speak to the driver of the Peugeot who left the scene prior to our arrival."

Anyone with information about the crash, which happened at 11.30pm on Saturday, can contact PC Leese at Grays on 01375 391212 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where all calls and information will be treated in confidence.
