FIREFIGHTERS have battled to contain hazardous chemicals leaking for a drum in a container at Tilbury docks.
Firefighters from Orsett and Grays cordoned off the area while they dealt with the leak.
Station Officer Martin Pullen, the officer in charge of the incident, reported that a 20ft container on a lorry parked at the side of the roadway has leaked an unknown quantity of a clear liquid.
Mr Pullen said: "The leak has been contained and I am happy that there is no further risk.
"We are leaving the incident in the care of the police and have reduced the size of the cordon to get traffic moving along the dock roads.
"Specialist clean-up experts are on their way to the scene."
