A HAPPY couple have renewed their marriage vows in the same style as their wedding...with a fast food reception.

Sally and Gary Beamish held their party at McDonald's on the Mayflower Retail Park, Basildon, when they married back in 1993.

They decided to repeat the treat after renewing their vows in a ceremony at St Nicholas Church, Laindon, on Saturday.

This time the Beamishes, of Basildon Drive, Laindon, took their four children and guests to McDonald's at Festival Leisure Park, Basildon.

The party then took their Big Macs, chicken nuggets, milkshakes and fries to the reception at James Hornsby High School, Leinster Road, Laindon.

Sally, 35, said: "We've never liked to do the norm.

"Most of the guests had no idea we were going back to McDonald's for a second time.

"People normally pay an absolute fortune to give their guests some boring old meal at weddings, which no-one likes much anyway.

"We thought this would be a lot more fun. It has certainly given us a lot of happy memories."

McDonald's franchisee Gen Isikgun surprised Sally and Gary by hiring a limousine to deliver them to the reception in style. She also let them have the food for free.

She said: "Sally and Gary are the only people who have ever had a wedding in our restaurant and it was a pleasure to be able to provide them with Big Mac and French fries for their big day second time round."

Gary, 42, said: "It was a surprise for our guests, but the burgers and chips tasted great. Sally and I still love each other...and McDonald's."
