FIVE friends have agreed to strip naked at a charity event for Southend Hospital, where a close friend is receiving treatment for cancer.

The group will perform a Full Monty-style show for around 250 lucky punters in Shoebury next month.

All money raised will go to the chemotherapy unit at Southend Hospital, where Kim Summers, 47, of West Road, Shoebury, has been having treatment for breast cancer.

She said she was delighted friends, Brian Revell, Brad Nicholson, Dan Rutherford, Terry Eve and Carl Ingram, had agreed to get their kit off to raise money.

Kim said: "I was diagnosed with cancer in January and started treatment in February.

"I've been quite lucky and haven't lost my hair or had too many nasty side effects. Before I was told about it, I did have an inkling.

"I'm lucky to have a close network of friends and family to help me through this, and they have all been incredibly supportive.

"Brian and I were sat around chatting and we came up with the idea.

"They're a great bunch of lads and are all really up for it."

The group will shed their clothes to the recent hit single by American singer Justin Timberlake, SexyBack.

Brian, 27, of Fraser Close, Shoebury, said all the lads were looking forward to the night, though they were slightly apprehensive.

He said: "We are all worried a little, but looking forward to it. I'm starting to get butterflies.

"We will be going the whole hog. What we've got planned is to hold helium balloons in front of our tackle - and at the end, let them go.

"It will be a good laugh and we are all quite well-known, so it should raise some money for a very good cause."

The show takes place at Captain Mannerings pub, in Campfield Road, Shoebury, on September 1. For more information, or to buy a ticket, call 01702 299988.
