THOUSANDS of south Essex teenagers are on a high - or low - after finding out their A-level results.
After weeks of waiting, students have finally found out if they have secured a coveted place at university.
Tracey Chapman, Essex County Council Cabinet Member for Schools, was among the first to congratulate students and wish them luck.
She said: "Many will be now taking the first steps towards further education while others will be looking forward to entering the world of work.
"Whatever their plans I want to congratulate them all on their successes.
"We have some tremendous schools in Essex and I am sure that teachers across the county will join me saying how proud I am in this year's results.
"We all play a big part in making Essex great and these achievements will certainly contribute to making our county one of the best."
