THOUSANDS of pounds worth of cocaine, cannabis, £9,000 in cash and distinctive jewellery were found in a Pitsea drugs den.

Police officers raided the house, in Edinburgh Way, after arresting its occupants on suspicion of theft.

They searched the property and recovered a stash of cannabis, several hundred grams of cocaine and the money.

They also found jewellery, including distinctive crucifixes and rings.

Police are now trying to reuinte the gems, thought to be stolen, with their rightful owners.

Investigating officer PC Adam Blackwell, of Pitsea police, said: "As well as finding a large quantity of drugs and money, we also discovered these rather unusual rings and crucifixes.

"We think they belong to someone else, so are hoping someone does recognise it as theirs and contacts us with a view to getting it back."

Three people were arrested on suspicion of possessing Class A and C drugs with intent to supply.

A 20-year-old man and a 49-year-old woman were released on police bail until early January.

Another 20-year-old man will return to Basildon police station later this month to answer his bail.

Anyone who recognises the jewellery, or believes they are the rightful owners, can contact police at Basildon on 01268 532212.
