REGULARS at a pub dressed up in their black tie finery for a special spoof Oscars night.

Staff at the Hoy and Helmet, in High Street, Benfleet, dished out ten awards for categories ranging from the biggest flirt and the biggest beer belly to the nicest smile and the worst gossip in the pub.

Each winner received a mini engraved replica Oscart statue and was given the chance to make their own gushing acceptance speech.

More than 40 drinkers packed the bar for the pub's fourth annual awards ceremony.

Landlady Michelle Matson, 34, said: "All our regulars nominated each other for different categories and the ones with the most votes got the awards. It was a great night."
