A MAN had to be treated for hypothermia after his canoe capsized - leaving him clinging on to a moored boat in freezing waters.
Dan Castle, 24, and John Dixon, 26, were paddling in two canoes when one tipped over, near Westcliff Esplanade.
The RNLI lifeboat was launched from Southend to rescue the two men, both from Westcliff.
They were both collected, but the one who had been in the water was thought to be suffering from hypothermia. He was taken to Southend Hospital by ambulance for treatment.
