THE FORTIES are being celebrated this weekend in Southend to remember those who died in conflicts across the world.
The Park pub, in London Road, is hosting three days of events to raise money for the Royal British Legion's poppy appeal.
There will be a film screening of A Bridge Too Far on Friday afternoon and rock band Silent Running will play in the evening.
On Saturday, there will be a procession of military vehicles, and in the evening there are fireworks and everyone is encouraged to dress in Forties-style clothes.
