ALL sorts of abandoned junk and household rubbish was collected in a six-hour cleaning blitz on the Craylands estate.
Basildon Council held a rubbish amnesty, where residents had unwanted household clutter taken away.
People living on the estate were also joined by police community support officers, firefighters, and staff from St George's Housing, which manages Basildon Council's housing stock on its behalf.
They collected 114 tins of paint, six fridge freezers, 11 refrigerators, two cookers, six washing machines, three car batteries, 14 car tyres, 15 tonnes of rubbish, 135 sacks of green waste, and four tonnes of dumped iron and steel.
Steve Ainslie, who organised the clean-up, said: "We found all sorts of things that shouldn't have been there. The support showed by residents was brilliant. Everyone helped."
