THE dream is over for an aspiring actor after he was voted off an American reality TV dancing contest last night.
Kenny Solomons, 21, of Parkanaur Avenue, Thorpe Bay, said he exceeded his own expectations by making it to week four of the show Dirty Dancing - the Time of Your Life.
He said: "I always knew I wouldn't win, as I'm not the strongest dancer. I was up against dancers who had worked with Kylie Minogue.
"But I really enjoyed it. I learnt a lot. It was great to be mentored by the judges and work alongside these great dancers.
"But dancing is not my main passion. I love acting and hope to pursue that."
Filming for the show took place in August, in West Virginia, but the programme is currently being screened on Living TV in the UK.
It is based around cult Eighties movie Dirty Dancing, with eight pairs of contestants re-enacting scenes from the film.
Kenny said: "The producers were hoping for romance to blossom between couples, but to be honest I was too worried about the dancing and being sent home to the UK after the dance-off to think about that. Also, my mum was watching!"
Since filming finished, Kenny, a former pupil of Thorpe Hall School, has filmed a commercial with Jamie Oliver for Sainsbury's and is filming his eighth Bollywood movie, called Straight.
