Television stars, models and comedians have attracted bumper crowds to Waterstones stores in Southend and Basildon over the years.

Book signings were a regular occurrence before the coronavirus pandemic resulted in government guidelines making it impossible for celebrities to hold meet and greet sessions with their fans.

Our photographs from the Echo archive show Katie Price has appeared at the Waterstones stores on Southend High Street and Basildon’s Eastgate Shopping Centre, while comedian Russell Kane, Jeremy Kyle and Supernanny Jo Frost have also headed to our seaside town.
