Motorists could be set to contend with traffic problems due to gasworks on three Southend roads in the coming weeks.

Barnard Road will be closed between its junction with the busy London Road and Eaton Road for close to a month.

Gas main replacement works will get underway on February 15, leading to a section of the road being out of bounds until March 6.

Motorists are advised to follow an alternative route via London Road, Herschel Road and Eaton Road.

Meanwhile, a section of Pentland Avenue - which is located just a stone’s throw from the Thorpe Bay seafront - will be closed while a new connection for gas is installed.

Vehicles will be unable to proceed on Pentland Avenue between its junctions with Caulfield Road and St Andrews Road from February 15.

Restrictions are expected to be in place for nine days.

Alternative routes will be available via Caulfield Road, Maplin Way and Church Road.

A new gas connection also needs to be installed on Northview Drive, Westcliff.

Vehicles are prohibited from parking, waiting, loading and unloading on Northview Drive from its junction with London Road.

The suspension is scheduled to commence on February 22 until February 27.

>Restrictions are set to be revoked as a bus stop clearway as put in place on a Wickford road.

The clearway will be installed on Radwinter Avenue, close to its junction with Tiptree Grove.

The changes will result in part of the no waiting at any time restrictions being revoked.

However, new restrictions will be put in place elsewhere on Radwinter Avenue.

No waiting at any time constraints will be implemented from a point approximately 62 and 106 metres south of the junction with Tiptree Grove.

The order comes into operation today.
