Visitors to Rochford will face more costly parking costs from next month.

Rochford District Council has confirmed the prices at 11 car parks across Rayleigh, Rochford and Hockley will be increased from April 1.

The price to park in the Old Ship Lane, Websters Way, Mill Hall, Hockley Road, Castle Road, Bellingham Lane, Back Lane, Southend Road, Civic Suite and Bradley Way car parks have been increased by 10p from 60p for a half-hour stay.

Although no change has been made to the £1.20 rate to park for an hour, it will now cost £2 rather than £1.80 to remain any of the car parks for two hours.

A further 60 minutes will see the cost jump from £2.60 to £2.90, while leaving your vehicle for up to four hours will see you fork out £2.70 - 40p more than the current rate.

Meanwhile, it is set to cost £4 rather than £3.60 to remain in the Hockley Road, Castle Road, Bellingham Lane Back Lane, Southend Road, Civic Suite and Bradley Way car parks for up to five hours.

However, there will be no change to the £5.50 rate to leave your vehicle in those car parks all day.

The Approach car park, in Rayleigh, will set motorists back £5.50 as an all-day rate - £1 more than the current price.

>An expansive length of a Basildon road is set to be closed for a period of three days.

Fourth Avenue, Shotgate, will be temporarily closed from its junction with Fanton Chase to Bruce Grove, meaning close to 225m will be off limits to motorists.

The closure, which will come into force from March 29, is required in order for carriageway patching works to be undertaken by Essex County Council.

Motorists are advised to use an alternative route via Fourth Avenue, Fifth Avenue and Bruce Grove.

>Residents on a Westcliff road will be made to contend with roadworks for more than a month as a new gas pipe is put in place.

Motorists will be unable to park, wait, load or unload their vehicles on the left-hand side of Ronald Park Avenue between its junctions with Westborough Road and Fairfax Drive.

The works will be done in four phases and restrictions will be put in place from March 15.

It is expected that the suspension of vehicles being able to park, wait, load or unload will be in effect until April 26.

Any motorist who goes against the regulations could be hit with a penalty change notice.
