Southend Council has announced several roads which are in line to undergo resurfacing works over the course of the next 18 months.

More than 20 roads will be revamped, meaning various streets are set to be temporarily off limits and one-way traffic flows could be temporarily suspended.

The entirety of Lansdown Avenue and Trafalgar Road will be resurfaced, along with sections of Eastwoodbury Lane, Park Road, Prittlewell Square, Rampart Terrace, Richmond Avenue, Walker Drive, South Avenue, Trinity Road, London Road, Lifstan Way, North Shoebury Road, Eastwood Road North, Crowstone Avenue, Westcliff Parade, Sutton Road, Elmsleigh Drive, Ness Road, East Street, Southchurch Road, Southchurch Boulevard, Stock Road, Wakering Road and Western Esplanade.

Each of the road closures will come into force on various dates during the next 18 months from April 15, with all specific dates yet to be announced.

>A large section of a busy Southend street will be out of bounds to motorists for 13 days, leading to fears there could be congestion close to the beachfront.

Fermoy Road will be closed between Thorpe Hall Avenue and Parkanaur Avenue while fibre optic cabling works take place.

The restrictions mean motorists are also set to be unable to proceed on Fermoy Road between its junctions with Tyrone Road, the Broadway.

Stopping, waiting, loading and unloading will also be prohibited, while vehicles will be unable to turn left onto Fermoy Road from the roundabout on the Broadway.

The road closure is scheduled to commence on April 19, with the restrictions expected to be removed on May 9.

Motorists will be advised to follow an alternative route signposted on site.

>A residential Canvey road will be closed for two days while carriageway patching works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

Park Lane, which leads to Canvey Island Football Club’s stadium, is due to be off limits between its junctions with Point Road and Leigh Back Road.

Improvements to the road are set to get underway on April 15.

An alternative route will be available via Point Road, High Street, Seaview Road, South Parade, Leigh Beck Lane, Park Road and Leigh Beck Road.
