PASSENGERS will be able to fly from Southend to Portugal from next month, it has been confirmed.

Airport chiefs announced that two flights will depart from the town to Faro per week, from June.

The flights will be with Ryanair.

This comes as Portugal is on the Government's green list.

A spokesman from Southend Airport: "Portugal is on the green list and we are pleased to confirm that there will be twice weekly flights to Faro from London Southend Airport by Ryanair from June.

"Bookings made before 30 June also qualify for Ryanair’s zero change fee."
