TRAINS have been delayed following an emergency incident on the c2c line.

Emergency services are on the scene between Leigh and Benfleet, with services delayed or "altered."

It has been confirmed that a person was pronounced dead at the scene, with officers called to reports of a "casualty on the tracks."

Greater Anglia are taking passengers between Southend and London "until further notice."

No trains are running between Benfleet and Leigh because of the incident.

A spokesman from the British Transport Police, said: "Officers were called to the line in Benfleet at 9.06am following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

"Paramedics also attended however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.

"Officers are now working to identify the person and inform their family. The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."

A spokesman from c2c, said: "Due to the emergency services dealing with an incident some trains are currently delayed and may be altered.

"Greater Anglia are conveying passengers between Southend Victoria and London Liverpool Street in both directions until further notice."
