ROBOTIC runner Lloyd Scott, has successfully completed this year's London Marathon in his most challenging costume to date.

Lloyd, 46, crossed the finishing line in the 9ft tall, 70lbs robot suit, designed by Laindon sculptor Aden Hynes.

The fundraiser completed the run in just six days, beating the times of previous years, when he tackled the course in a deep sea diving costume and a suit of armour.

Lloyd, from Rainham, said: "The costume was definitely my favourite of all those I have run in.

"It looked incredible and had the most impact.

"But it was more of a challenge than any of the other costumes and required a lot of concentration.

"I had problems with every bump and manhole in the road, and it was difficult to get into any kind of rhythm."

Guides escorted the runner, who raised about £25,000 for the Autism Trust, around the 26-mile course to catch him if he lost balance.

He was forced to walk on stilts inside the suit for about nine hours a day, navigating only through a small slot at the front.

Mr Scott said: "I had people come round with me for a couple of days, and the response from the public was overwhelming. It was better than any other year."
