CONSTRUCTION has begun on plans to build 15 plush new flats opposite directly opposite the recently renovated Grand Hotel in Leigh.

Crews have been spotted on site laying the foundations for the three storey building in The Broadway that will also boast a ground floor commercial unit and parking court.

The project has seen the demolition of the former Grove Fittings Ironmongery store and Leigh Car Wash – which has since moved to London Road.
