THREE skateparks in Rochford are set to be upgraded as the council seeks the views of residents on newly proposed designs.
Rochford Council has set up a survey to get the views from residents on the best designs for three skateparks across the borough.
Earlier this year, the council put out to tender to find a company who will design and construct three concrete skateparks, following the first phase of consultation on upgrading the parks late last year.
The project offers the supplier the opportunity to create unique public spaces at Hullbridge Recreation Ground, Rayleigh Leisure Centre, and Clements Hall Leisure Centre.
The facilities, once built, will be a concrete freeform skatepark that should accommodate all forms of “wheeled” activity.
To help the council with the final stage of this process, they have asked residents and users of the current skateparks to help choose their favourite design and facilities from the three companies who are in the final round of the tender process.
Julie Gooding, councillor responsible for leisure, tourism, and wellbeing, said: “We want our residents to get the most from their skate parks, so we invite all users and communities to get involved.
“It is vital that we get the spaces right, making each area a destination skatepark.”
The council invited experienced suppliers to tender for the design and construction of three concrete skateparks earlier this year.
The contract was a two year contract with the value of £450,000.
Now suppliers have been narrowed down to three, voting opened today until August 23, to help selected the best three designs – one for each park.
All three parks’ have got three designs to select from – from three different bidders.
Clements Hall Leisure Centre, Hullbridge Skate Park, and Rayleigh Leisure Centre, all have different designs proposed from each of the three bidders.
