PUPILS at a Southend primary school have been enjoying a week of performing arts workshops, thanks to the help of creative pupils from the town’s secondary schools.

Children at St Mary’s Primary School, enjoyed dance, drama and music sessions with students from Chase High School, Cecil Jones High School, Southend High School for Girls, and Futures College.

Teacher Darren Pascoe organised the workshops as part of a week of activities, culminating in a themed fancy dress day today.

St Mary’s pupils have also enjoyed sessions with experts including a performance poet, a mime artist and a troupe of puppeteers.

Mr Pascoe said: “We wanted to get everyone involved in the week to allow the children to experience as many different things as possible. It’s a celebration of our work within the school and our links to local secondary schools.

“All the children are loving it. The school is just buzzing with energy.”
