A MAN has been locked up for carrying a knife into a pub.
Daniel Barraco, 18, armed with a kitchen knife was thrown out of the Last Post in Southend town centre following a row.
Barraco of Bournemouth Park Road, Southend, was jailed for four months at Southend Magistrates’ Court yesterday. He admitted the offence at an earlier hearing.
Lesley Chipps, prosecuting, said: “This relates to an incident in October.
Mr Barraco was there. He was being abusive to an unknown male.
“Because of his behaviour he was asked to leave the pub. He was physically removed.”
Door staff at the pub then saw the hidden knife and detained the man until police arrived.
In mitigation Simon Samuels said the knife was not produced during the incident.
He added: “He doesn’t know why he was carrying the knife. He has no memory of picking it up.
“The more help this 18-year-old gets the more likely he will change his ways.“ District judge Kevin Gray said: “It seems to me only a custodial sentence is appropriate.”
