THE funeral of Southend policeman Steve Leese will be held in two weeks.
The father-of-two died suddenly at Garon Park golf course, in Southend, after suffering a suspected heart attack.
Sgt Leese, 51, from Shoebury, was well-known in the town for his work training new recruits to Essex Police, before he moved to the licensing department.
A celebration of his life will be held at St Mary’s Church, in Victoria Avenue, Prittlewell, at 1.45pm on Tuesday, February 17.
His wife, Viv Leese, said: “A truly wonderful husband, dad, grandad, son, and son-in-law, Steve will be deeply missed by his loved ones, friends, and colleagues in Essex Police. Wonderful memories sustain and comfort us all.”
Following the church service, there will be a service at Southend Crematorium for family, friends, and close colleagues.
Donations can be made to the Gurney Fund, which supports police widows and orphans, care of S Stibbards and Sons, 74 Ness Road, Shoebury.
