SISTERS will be doing it for St Luke’s Hospice when they undertake a gruelling 70km trek at the Grand Canyon.
Sue Forrester and Kay Frowen are set to embark on their adventure in September this year, but first they must each raise £3,000.
Sue, 52, of Tyne, East Tilbury and Kay, 49, of Allens Way, Stanford-le-Hope, will be guided by members of the Havasu Baaia Native American tribe, who have lived in the area of the Grand Canyon for more than 800 years.
Sue said: “This will be an experience of a lifetime for us and for a very worthwhile cause, having lost a relative and three very close friends within the last year to cancer, we appreciate just how invaluable a hospice is.
“We are in training already and cannot wait to get to the canyon.
Sue and Kay have organised a Valentine’s Masked Ball to kick-off their fundraising.
It will take place on Saturday, February 14, at the Catrcracker Public House in The Sorrells, Stanford-le-Hope.
The night starts at 7.30pm and Tickets cost £8.
Call Sue on 07919 524197 for tickets.
