Shut – Our Lady of Lourdes School, Leigh, opened on Monday, but closed yesterday
THE aftermath of heavy snowfall in south Essex saw nearly 100 south Essex schools closed for a second day.
Many schools may have been closed, but main roads across south Essex were open, with traffic moving smoothly and no major accidents.
About 40 schools were closed in the Basildon district yesterday, five in Castle Point and 19 in Southend. In Rochford district, 11 schools were closed while 17 stayed shut in Thurrock.
The previous day, all but about 50 of the 500-plus Essex County Council across the county were closed.
