GET well messages have been flooding in via a social networking site for a stuntman badly injured on the new Harry Potter film set.

Leigh stunt double David Holmes, 25, suffered a serious back injury while standing in for star Daniel Radcliffe, during an aerial sequence for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

His brother Adam set up a page on the Facebook site and so far it has attracted 139 get well messages and 411 members.

One message, from actor Jamie Wolpert, who appeared in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, says: “Davey – I always loved being on set on Potter, and you were one of the main reasons – always smiling and happy and chatty, it was a real pleasure working with you.

“I’m so sorry this has happened to you. You’re a smashing bloke and I wish you a swift and painless recovery. Lots of love to you, stay strong.”

The film set at Leavesden Studios in Hertfordshire remained cordoned off yesterday, while the Health and Safety Executive continued an investigation.

Following the incident, Mr Holmes was taken to Watford General Hospital but was later transferred to the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, in Stanmore, north west London.

A statement released on behalf of his family thanked people for their thoughts and prayers and added: "We are trusting in the expertise of the medical staff who are caring for David."

A spokesman for the Health and Safety Executive said: “Our investigation is ongoing. The set has been cordoned off and will not be used again until we have finished that part of our investigation.”
