BRAVE bar staff are set to make a leap of faith to raise money for Havens Hospices.

James Lovell, 19, and Laura O’Brien, 24, will be calling time at the Canvey Conservative Club where both work to take part in skydive over Maidstone, Kent, in April.

The colleagues decided to take the plunge after seeing a story in the Echo asking for volunteers to sign up for the charity jump.

James said: “I’m not nervous, I’m just excited, but I think Laura’s a bit nervous.

“She has been doing most of the fundraising and we’ve already raised £1,500.”

The pair have had support from the owners of Steve’s Taxis as well as members of the Conservative Club and prospective Parliamentary candidate Rebecca Harris.

Ms Harris said: “While working in Parliament could be described as a dangerous activity, the thought of jumping from a plane is quite simply terrifying.

“James and Laura are showing real courage to help a great cause.”

Anyone wishing to sponsor them can call into the club in Long Road, Canvey.
