A SCHOOL in Leigh received a visit from staff at a school in Nigeria.

Saint Pierre School, in Leigh Road, welcomed a group of delegates from St Saviour’s School in Lagos.

The visiting group was given a tour of the independent school with St Pierre’s head boy and girl.

The group was in the UK interviewing for a new headteacher for the international school.

Chris Perkins, headteacher of Saint Pierre, is hoping now to establish a long-term connection with the school and possibly share resources, ideas and even take part in a staff and parent exchange programme.

The meeting has already meant the children are starting to establish contact with the pupils in Africa through the internet.

Mr Perkins said: “We are extremely excited at the prospect of developing links with St Saviour’s.

“At Saint Pierre we are always looking for new ways for the children to become interactive citizens of an ever widening global environment. “This is a perfect opportunity to do just that.”
