TWO women were hurt when they fell into a basement on a building site.
A crew from Leigh fire station was called to help ambulance crews rescue the women from the hole, on a site in Woodside, Leigh, at 4.45pm yesterday.
The rescue took 45 minutes. Firefighter Dan Hawkins said: “They were looking at the building and walking over a wooden board and fell into the basement.
“One of them was taken off on a stretcher to hospital with suspected spinal injuries. The other one was carried out on a wheelchair with a broken ankle. We rescued them using a line to tow them out.”
Mr Hawkins said the woman with spinal injuries appeared to be in her forties. The other woman was in her early sixties.
