FIRMS struggling to cope with the recession are to be lent a helping hand through a series of free advice clinics.
Companies across Basildon can get advice on how to ride out the storm with the free business health checks, throughout February and early March.
The initiative has been launched by Basildon Renaissance and its partner Business Link East.
The four drop-in clinics, supported by Lloyds TSB and RBS, will begin on Wednesday, February 11, at the Basildon Centre, St Martin’s Square, Basildon, between 8.30am and 4.30pm. Then at the following locations: l February 18, at Clydesdale Bank, 12 Argent Court, Sylvan Way, Southfields Business Park, Basildon.
l February 25, at Essex Enterprise Centre, 33 Noble Square, Burnt Mills Industrial Estate, Basildon.
l March 4, at Prospects College, Crompton Road, Cranes Farm Industrial Estate, Basildon.
Stephen Horgan, cabinet member for regeneration and green issues at Basildon council, said: “We appreciate how hard things may be for business, no matter how big or small, and these four clinics are open to any company in the district that feels it may need some advice and help.
“Our line-up of advisors will be ready to offer their knowledge and expertise, and we hope we can help as many businesses as necessary throughout February.”
Paul Rolison, chairman of the Basildon Business Group, a collaboration of local firms which works with the council, added: “We have been working closely with Basildon Renaissance and the council over the past six months on a number of issues.
“One of our challenges to them was how it would be helping the business community during these tough times.
“These free clinics offer a good starting point for businesses that feel they need help during the pinch.
“I would encourage all businesses in need of advice and support to attend these clinics throughout the district.
“These clinics form just one part of a campaign of help and advice that will be rolled out over the next 12 months.”
Business interested in attending the clinics can book a time slot for a one-to-one health check by calling Doreen Stepney on 01268 294763 or e-mail business assist@basildon.gov.uk
