CUB scouts from across Stanford-le-Hope competed in the annual totem pole competition.

The competition had six different bases which all had different challenges for them to complete.

Some of these bases included, first aid, who’s who?, leaf and tree identification, dangers in the kitchen, knots, and map work.

Points were awarded for completing the different elements of each base.

Event organiser Lesley Ward said: “It was fun, but they also learned things as well.

“For example, those who didn’t know who the Prime Minister was when they came, do now.” The winners were 1st Thors Oak Jacala, in second place, 2nd Corringham Waingunga and in third position was 1st Corringham Chetowaik.

The children said it was a fun.
