She was nominated to represent Thurrock by the regional support team - Together for Children, the agency overseeing the centres.

The Prime Minister congratulated all the representatives for their hard work and commitment to the programme saying: “We are so grateful for everything you’ve done. Thank you all very much.”

Ed Balls, Secretary of State for Children and children’s minister Beverley Hughes, were also at the event.

Councillor Sue MacPherson, Thurrock’s cabinet member for children’s services said: “Our 12 centres provide a wide range of services for children, from birth to five years.

“Congratulations and thanks to everyone who has been involved in this brilliant work here, especially the people who work in the centres and bring smiles to parents and their children.”
