CYCLISTS will be pulling on their lycra and heading to the seafront to raise money for Havens Hospices.

Ben Crabb, 27, from Leigh, is facing the challenge of a lifetime, scaling the world’s highest free standing mountain - Mount Kilimanjaro in February.

Mr Crabb has organised PowerPedals 2009 fundraising event, which takes place on Sunday, November 29, to help him get fit and achieve his target of £3,450 on the trek.

There are two routes to choose from on the day, one for younger children and families to breeze up to five miles along the seafront via the towns designated cycle paths, and the other, a more challenging sixteen or thirty-two mile circuit which takes cyclists through Barling and Great Wakering, ending back at the start point, Shoebury Common.

.

Adults must raise a minimum sponsorship of £30, and £15 for under 16s and registration is free. Entrants will receive a welcome pack with a detailed map of the route and will be allocated a start time. Those wishing to sign up on the day can do so between 9.30am and midday, but may be charged a registration fee.

To register or for further information please contact Ben Crabb on 07949 221511, email ben@crabb.com, or visit www.justgiving.com/powerpedals.
