PUPILS, parents and even grandparents joined in the fun when a Shoebury school celebrated its 50th birthday.
Thorpdene Junior School billed the day Thorpefest, and just like at a rock festival, visitors – in this case adults – had to wear wristbands.
Headteacher Debbie Allen described the day as “absolutely brilliant”.
She said: “We even had Year 6 pupils posing as security guards and pretending to talk on their radios.
“Emily, a singer-songwriter from the Creative Partnerships Team, helped the children compose songs.
It also provided a comedian called Laura, and the show included animation.”
She added: “There was singing by our own glee club which included the children, their parents and their grandparents.”
Children also danced while listening to music on headphones in a “silent” disco.
