A FORMER factory worker, who is working hard to overcome dyslexia, has been recognised with a special award.
Reece Burgess, 20, who is studying an exercise and fitness apprenticeship at Seevic College, has been named an outstanding achiever by the Jack Petchey Foundation.
Reece, from Pitsea, was nominated by his tutors and class mates.
He said: “I was so surprised to win the award. I have never won anything like this before. It’s great to feel like I have really achieved something.
“I was working in a factory before I came to Seevic. I had bigger aspirations, so I started this course and hope to have a career as a gym instructor.”
As part of the award, Reece has been given £200 to spend on something he thinks will improve the college in Kiln Road, Thundersley.
He has decided to put the cash towards new gym equipment.
