A MAN arrested in connection with a rape on a busy main road in Leigh has been bailed pending further enquiries.

A 46-year-old woman had called police to report she had been attacked in London Road near to its junction with Tattersall Gardens between 9-10pm on Sunday, March 21.

The woman, who lives nearby, did not require any medical treatment but said she had been raped.

On Tuesday, March 30, a 24-year-old man was arrested in Leigh on suspicion of rape and has now been released on bail until April 7 pending further enquiries.
