A PROBE has been launched after a fire broke out in among the rubble of a demolished building.
Fire crews were called to Cranes Court in Church Road, Basildon after a the blaze on what used to be the Basildon Foyer, which provided shelter for homeless young people.
It is not known what started the fire at about 7.20pm on Sunday.
Two fire crews raced to the scene and managed to put it out at around 45 minutes.
They are now investigating what started the fire but Donna Veasey, spokeswoman for Essex Police, believes it was not started deliberately.
The former Basildon Foyer has been knocked down to make way for 12 one-bedroom flats and 16 houses with parking and landscaped areas.
