IGNORANT vandals carried out a spate of vandalism in Eastwood over the weekend.

They kicked down the walls of seven homes leaving the owners facing a bill of over £2,500 to fix the damage.

Five of the walls are in Lambeth Road and two are in Rayleigh Road and were all targeted in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Police believe the offences occurred some time between midnight and 5:30am.

During the same morning, five cars parked in Hazelwood Grove, Eastwood, had their wing mirrors kicked off. These offences are believed to have taken place between 1am and 6:45am on Saturday, May 15. The total value of this damage is estimated at £600.

Pc Sharon Polkinghorn, neighbourhood specialist officer for Eastwood, said: “This spate of damage is extremely unusual for this area and we’re not ruling out the possibility that all the offences are linked. We’d ask anyone who was walking or driving in the area in the early hours of Saturday to think back. Did you see any suspicious activity? If you have any information it may be helpful to us, so please get in touch.”
