HE famously said he would never “do the Crouch” again until England won the World Cup.

Yet towering England and Spurs footballer Peter Crouch has been reprising his robotic dance routine – thanks to a little help from some Basildon streetdancers.

The striker was even given a few tips about how to perfect his ‘robocrouch’ move after meeting performers from Kayzar Dance School Youngsters from the troupe, who rehearse at Woodlands School in Basildon, put the 6ft 7in star through his paces when they met him at the Westcroft Leisure Centre, London.

The 29-year-old was there to celebrate the final of the Danone Nations Cup “world cup for kids” tournament, which took place at Chelsea FC’s homeground Stamford Bridge last night. The Cheshire-born player is an ambassador for the competition which has helped to inspire over 2.5 million children to become young footballers.

Youngsters from Kayzar dance including the group’s founder and choreographer Nader Boulila, 30, were also there ahead of their attempt to break the world record for the most number of people doing the “Crouch”.

Nader, who started up Kayzar seven years ago, said: “We have been training to try to break the world record.

“I hope there will be about 550 of us, from Kayzar and other streetdance groups, performing a robot routine that I have choreographed.

“We have been out and about all over the country training dance groups and others to take part, so it was a treat to teach the man himself!”

Crouch became known for his robotic dance after he was snapped doing the awkward move at a bash thrown by Posh and Becks at their home in 2006.

He then “did the Crouch” on the pitch when England scored against Hungary later that year.

However, he later got tired of being asked about it and said he would be putting the move on the backburner, until he scored in the World Cup Final...hopefully this summer! Nader added: “He was really nice, though he seemed a bit nervous about doing the robot again, but then perhaps that’s because everyone was looking at him!

“He said he would try to come along to our world record attempt to cheer us on.”
