SOUTHEND'S new mayor has announced the three charities she will be supporting during her year in office.
Ann Holland was invested as mayor last week, taking over from retiring councillor Brian Smith.
In a ceremony today at the official mayoral residence Porters, in Southchurch Road, Mrs Holland announced she would be supporting Southend Stroke Club, Southend Arts Council and SAVS disability charity The Village.
She said: "I want the funds I raise to benefit as many Southend people as possible, that is why I have decided to create an umbrella charity that covers a wide range of worthy causes."
