AN EXTRA floor could be added to a three-storey block of flats to accommodate eight new apartments.
Plans to build eight new two-bedroom flats at Manners Corner flats, off Manners Way, Southend, have just been submitted to Southend Council.
The Manners Corner Management Company wants to build the extension to solve problems with the block’s ashfelt roof which is expensive to restore.
The three-storey block, which is thought to have been built in the 1930s, has shops on the ground floor and flats above.
The council is aiming to make a decision on the application by June 29.
