CONTROVERSIAL plans to build 150 homes on former green belt land are set to be voted on by councillors next week.
Castle Point Council’s chief development control officer has recommended councillors approve Barratt Homes’ plans for the land north of Kiln Road and west of Wensley Road.
But almost 200 letters of objection have been received from people concerned about the effect on wildlife, increased traffic and congestion.
The plans show Barratt has earmarked the other parts of site for future development, leading to fears the 150 homes is just the beginning.
Barratt wants to build 117 houses, three two-bedroom flats above garages and five blocks of six two-bedroomed apartments.
The application will be discussed at the development control committee meeting which starts at 7.30pm on Wednesday next week at the council offices in Kiln Road.
