SEVERAL road closures will be in place on roads into Southend at different times over this weekend.
Utility companies are currently carrying out works in advance of the road improvement scheme at Cuckoo Corner which starts at the end of June.
The council is liaising with the utility companies to co-ordinate traffic management and minimise disruption.
Work taking place this weekend will involve lane closures on the approaches to Cuckoo Corner roundabout during the evening and over night on Saturday, May 22 from 7pm – 6am and Sunday, May 23 from 7pm – 6am.
The northbound carriageway of Manners Way will be closed at the exit from the roundabout as far as its junction with Hampton Gardens during the evening and over night on Sunday 23 May from 7pm – 6am.
A diversion route will be signed via Rochford Road.
During these works the metal tree and boulders located on the roundabout island are being removed.
Access to properties will be maintained and the roundabout island, the new entrance to the park and the surrounding verges will be landscaped.
Details of the lane and carriageway closures will be relayed to visitors to the town using the signs situated around the area.
