A TORY MP has welcomed the new government’s decision to scrap Home Information Packs which he said were “a complete disaster”.
James Duddridge, MP for Rochford and Southend East has previously raised concerns about the packs, or HIPs.
The coalition government announced on Thursday they would be suspended immediately from Friday pending new laws to outlaw them completely.
Mr Duddridge said: “I am delighted that early on the Coalition Government has decided to suspend HIPs.
“They have driven up the cost of buying and selling homes.
“I am confident that this move will help thousands of home buyers and sellers in Rochford and Southend.”
