MORE than £17,500 raised by a charity polo game has been handed over to Falklands veteran Simon Weston.
The money was raised for the Help for Heroes charity, which supports members of the Armed Forces wounded in battle.
It was given to charity campaigner Mr Weston at the Chalkwell Park Suite, in Chalkwell Park.
The Polo for Heroes event was held in July at St Albans Polo Club, Hertfordshire, and featured celebrities, such as former boxing world champion Steve Collins.
Co-ganiser Clare Dingwall, from Southend, said the event was well attended and supported by south Essex residents.
Mr Weston received horrific burns during the 1982 Falklands War and since then has campaigned for various charities and causes.
