A CHARITY could be set up to look after the High House Production Park in Purfleet once the Thurrock Thames Gateway Development Corporation disbands in 2012.

If a charity was established to manage the site and its commercial activities, it is claimed it would make finding funding for projects at the park easier.

The park is home to several Royal Opera House projects.

Sarah Barnes, a spokesman for the Thurrock Thames Gateway Development Corporation, said: “To ensure the campus remains for the benefit for the people of Thurrock and the wider area, the best way to achieve this is to create a charity.”

The objectives of the charity would be to promote and assist in the advancement of education, arts, culture and heritage, through the usage and development of its property assets.

The charity would also be expected to promote community enhancment and cohesion and to carry out other functions to support the organisation’s objectives.
